Safety

Our Safety Division is manned by John Holdsclaw, III, jholdsclaw@sha-online.org who oversees all areas of safety for SHA by following OSHA and HUD regulations.

SHA Safety Policy Statement:

It is the policy of the Statesville Housing Authority to provide a work environment that is accident free.   It is SHA policy to instruct and train staff that safety is a state of mind and it is up to the staff to take control of accidents risks.

Managers are encouraged to actively support the SHA safety program that will integrate safety engineering principles and accident prevention techniques in all work assignments (on site or in the communities).

SHA staff is encouraged to:

        * report unsafe conditions for staff members as well as for clients and residents.

        * ensure all staff members are trained in job responsibility and safety.

        * ensure immediate and corrective action is taken whenever an unsafe condition is identified.

        * set a safety example to other staff members as well as clients and residents.

SHA staff members take part in their own safety by taking part in safety committee meetings, training, and inspections.

The Statesville Housing Authority has created a safe work style that provides safe conditions for staff, clients, and residents by removing hazardous conditions.

Prevention is the theme - not blaming.

Sharing and learning is the goal - not finger pointing.

BE SAFE!
